Most of the courses are taught in English. In some cases, depending on demand, the courses might be taught in both English and German. Most of our instructors speak both languages fluently.

Our courses start on June 8 and end on October 11, 2018.

Roughly, courses length varies from three days up to three weeks. However, most of them run for about a week.

In 2018 we offer courses in Fine Arts, Design, Music, Performing Arts, Interdisciplinary, Arts Management and Creative Entrepreneurship.

The fee depends on the duration of the course. For price information, please visit the course page directly.

Unfortunately, we do not award ECTS credits, but upon completion of our summer courses we issue official certificates.

For certificate recognition, please consult the respective student office at your university.

Unfortunately, we do not offer full fellowships for our programms. We offer alumni discounts and partial scholarships ourselves while the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research and the European Social Fonds are also awarding education grants.

Apart from this we encourage you to consult international grant and support programs for information about external fellowships.

As to alumni discount, we reward you with a 100 EUR Alumni discount of the course fee (or final fee if you register for more than one course). Participants who register for several courses will get a 50 EUR discount of the final price.

No, unfortunately you can't. Even though based at the UdK, the BSUA operates an independent course program. Therefore, acceptance into or participation in the BSUA or ISSCE doesn't imply or constitute acceptance as a degree candidate to the UdK Berlin.

How do I apply?

Registration is possible online via the registration page on our website. Please follow the instruction: click "Workshops" tab – Choose the field and the course – click "Add course to shortlist" – click "Register".

The admission requirements vary from course to course. Please check the course page you are interested in for further details. General application requirements include a motivation letter and current CV. Also, your application for a course is not complete until you have submitted all required documentation. Please visit our registration page for more details.

Upon submission, you will automatically receive an e-mail confirmirming your online registration and listing the courses you have chosen. We do our best to process registrations as quickly as possible, however it can take 3 to 4 days until we get back to you.

The invoice shall be due for payment net within 30 days after being issued unless any different regulation has been agreed.

If your budget or financial situation requires a payment by instalments, please leave us a message in the comment section of the registration form.

Please note that right now we are only accepting bank transfers. Payments with credit card, PayPal or similar payment methods are not possible.

These documents are required so that the instructors have a chance to review the applicants before the course starts and, if applicable, specifically tailor special content to meet needs and desires of the paricipants. Please note that your application for a course is not complete until you have submitted all required documentation.

We do not stipulate specific requirements for the letter of motivation, however good examples usually attempt to answer at least the following four questions:

1. Why do you want to participate in the BSUA program?

2. What personal and/or academic background qualifies you for the chosen course(s)?

3. What do you expect to gain from the course(s) you are applying to?

4. How do you plan to apply the gained knowledge upon completion of the course, e.g. after returning to your home city/country and/or job?

In case of withdrawal from a course up to ten days before the specific course registration ends a charge of 25% of the course fee will be imposed. After this deadline no reimbursement is possible. Any cancellation must be executed in writing either by e-mail, mail or by fax no later than the deadline.

In the case that a course is cancelled participants will receive notice at the latest 14 days before the course is scheduled to begin. Fees that have already been paid will be refunded. Any further claims are excluded.

Are the course venues wheelchair accessible?

Yes, most of the university buildings are completely accessible, however some courses include outings around the city, where we are unable to guarantee accessibility. Please contact us mentioning the course(s) you are interested in and we would be happy to provide you more detailed information.

Most of the courses take place in the UdK buildings located in Charlottenburg, however some courses also include interactive outings around the city.

I'm a non-EU citizen. Do I need a visa?

As none of our courses runs longer than a month, a student visa is not required. In most cases, a tourist visa is sufficient for participation in the BSUA.

Please, consult the German consulate in your country to figure out which type of visa you need and which documents have to be provided.

Unfortunately, we can't. As the BSUA offers short-term summer courses and not a full-time education, we are unable to sponsor student visa applications.
