Course Categories 2022
We're happy to have hosted so many of you in Berlin this summer. Thank you for staying with us and being part of our summer programme! We're looking forward to welcoming you next year and hope that the majority of the planned courses will take place in person.
We're currently working on the programme for the Berlin Summer University of the Arts 2022 and are happy to share the new theme design with you. We've traditionally teamed up with the UdK’s Klasse Hickmann and this time the new design comes from Mattis Bettels. You can read an interview with him on our website. The programme for next year will be published in December 2021 here.
But this isn't our only news! We'd like to present our new categories for the next year:
We hope you are well and that you are able to make the most of the summer – whether at home or on holiday. Maybe you can even make it to Berlin for one of our courses.
The Summer University of the Arts is in full swing and we are happy to announce that we will be offering more courses in September. As in previous editions, you will find an overview of the courses for which you can still register at short notice. In addition, there are some courses that we already know will take place for sure. There are a few remaining places for these, for which you can still register.

Our summer university programme is in full swing now! In August, in addition to the online
courses, we will be organizing in-presence workshops in Berlin. It's a great pleasure to meet
with participants from all over the world again.
All the late bloomers and spontaneous registrants — you can find an overview of the
upcoming registration deadlines below. Hopefully, this newsletter will give you some
guidance if you have not made up your mind yet.
Also, feel free to check out our social media channels — there, our lecturers keep sharing
exciting content about themselves and their personal experiences, as well as helpful
information about the courses.

We are very glad that our workshops are going to take place in person. We'll continue keeping our participants informed and provide them with all the necessary information on entry restrictions and COVID-19 regulations in Germany, as well as rapid test possibilities in Berlin.
Also, below you will find a reminder for the registration deadlines coming up in July. We are
looking forward for your applications and messages!
In this newsletter:
In the last newsletter, we've started introducing you to the category Exploration, and since there are numerous courses in this category, we would like to continue doing so.
We also have really good news for you! First, as the infection rate in Berlin continues to decline and current regulations are loosening up, we are optimistically looking forward to having the summer months with many on-site workshops. Second, as you already know, international final-year students and first-year graduates can apply for the Berlin Summer University of the Arts partial scholarship, which covers up to 200€ of the course fee. We've now extended the application deadline to June
13, 2021.
And last but not least: we are still accepting applications for the "Writing = Desing" workshop with Sonja Knecht and Christoph Rauscher, who recently overtook our Instagram account and told us more about themselves and their course.

We've also made some changes to our Terms and Conditions that benefit our participants.

Furthermore, you can still apply for the Berlin Summer University of the Arts 2021 scholarships. We're looking forward to your applications until April 18, 2021.

As you already know, our programme is affected by the COVID-19 regulations, that's why wedecided to transform the Berlin Summer University of the Arts 2020 into a fully digitalexperience. One advantage that the online courses offer in any case is that anyone, whether inBerlin, Marseille, or Rio, can participate in the programme. We hope that this will enable us totake up even more international experiences and perspectives in our workshops.
We are verymuch looking forward to welcoming you to our online courses!
In this newsletter:
As for many others, the current situation with the coronavirus took us all by surprise and effects the way we work and plan our upcoming summer programme. Like all Berlin universities, the University of the Arts has shifted to the emergency presence to counteract the spread of the coronavirus and to take further preventive measures for its university members. Even though we were looking forward to welcoming you in Berlin and the beautiful buildings of the UDK, we have to ensure the safety of all our participants and lecturers. This is why the courses that start before August won't take place in the presence mode.
We are currently trying to figure out whether the courses affected by these measures can be adapted and replaced with online formats. For more information please visit FAQs Coronavirus on our website.
Since things are changing quickly these days, we will keep you posted about upcoming changes on Facebook and on our website. Of course, we will contact and inform you personally in case you have already booked one of the affected courses.
Despite these uncertain times, we don't want to withhold the contents of the upcoming courses from you and hope that we can give you some artistic inspiration by presenting you a selection of this year's design courses and some artistic resources to use when staying at home.
In this newsletter:
Are you interested in getting together with UDK students?
