Scholarships 2023

We are very happy to announce that there will be FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS for the Berlin Summer University of the Arts this year! Scholarships will be granted by the President of the University of the Arts. They cover the full amount of the respective course fee.

Please send your application for the scholarship with a detailed artistic CV and extended letter of motivation which shows the relevance of the workshop theme to your artistic or academic profession, as well as an explanation of individual financial need (e.g. qualification for social welfare, BaföG, or unemployment benefits; international applicants should send respective proof of comparable qualification) and an estimate of the cost of travel and accommodation via e-mail to summer-courses[at]udk-berlin.de.

Selection Criteria:
1. relevance of the chosen workshop in relation to previous artistic training
2. applicant’s level of need (e.g. social welfare, BaföG, unemployment assessment; see paragraph above) and additional costs for travel and accommodation
3. the final selection regarding the granting of scholarships will be made by the President of Berlin University of the Arts.

An application for a grant requires that one has already registered for the course in question via the online registration form and has entered the keyword "Art Scholarship 2023" in the comments section. Registrations submitted in combination with this keyword are granted a special provision regarding the withdrawal from a course: In the case that the applicant does not receive the scholarship the binding registration can be cancelled without incurring an additional fee.

The decision regarding the granting of scholarships will be documented and announced on 5 May 2023. The applicants will then receive an email informing them as to whether they have been awarded a scholarship. Applicants who do not receive a scholarship have the right to cancel their registration for the course(s) in question for up to 10 days after receiving the decision notice. The formal withdrawal from a course must be submitted in writing. If the applicants do not respond within this time period their registration(s) will remain valid and they will receive an invoice for the full course fee(s). All other respects are subject to the provisions of the general terms and conditions of the Berlin Summer University of the Arts (http://summer-university.udk-berlin.de/service/terms-and-conditions/).

A scholarship allows the participation in one of the courses (exclusive the online-workshops) at a discounted price provided that the course indeed takes place (a minimum number of participants must, for instance, have registered). The scholarship can only be used towards the reduction of the participation cost(s) of the desired course. A payout of the funds or the use of the funds for another purpose is not possible.

Discounts for Alumni and Multiple Bookings

We offer a 100€ discount for all alumni of UdK Berlin, including former participants of the Berlin Summer University of the Arts, and a 50€ discount for participants who register for more than one workshop.
